My name is Tracy, and my husband Emiliano (Emi) and I are reaching out as we continue on our long and winding journey to parenthood. Seven years of marriage have led us through multiple medical interventions, four heartbreaking miscarriages and their residual effects, many consultations and tests, and ultimately, doctors’ recommendations to grow our family through surrogacy due to congenital uterine anomalies and autoimmune issues. At first, the thought of surrogacy seemed impossible to us, but the pieces have been miraculously falling into place throughout the past 8 months. Throughout it all, we have learned that help comes to those who ask for it, and we are humbly asking for more assistance to make the next chapter of our story possible.

We are beyond grateful to those who have already supported us through prayers, connections, words of encouragement, and donations. This has enabled us to identify a gestational carrier and prepare for an embryo transfer. There are many steps to this process, and we have spent nearly $35,000 on our surrogacy pursuit so far since our health insurance does not include any coverage for infertility treatments. We anticipate needing another $50,000 for the following expenses:

$10,000 – legal fees, including representation for Emi and I as intended parents, representation for our gestational carrier, estate planning for all parties involved, and other fees associated with our legal agreement
$10,000 – frozen embryo transfer to our gestational carrier and related medication/monitoring expenses
$30,000 – additional insurance and compensation for our gestational carrier’s time and involvement throughout this process

When Emi and I met over ten years ago while working in the north woods of Minnesota, we never could have imagined the ride life has brought us on so far. Somehow, we have figured out how to make things work, starting from meager camp counselor wages to eventually moving to each others’ home countries (first me to Argentina, then him to the U.S.), and finally settling down in central Minnesota. We both work in education, and we sincerely love our students and our vocations. However, we know we have even more love to share and cannot wait to raise our own child one day soon.

When the barriers in this process seem endless, we remind ourselves to pause and reflect on how far we have come, much of which was made possible by the generosity of others. We cannot thank you enough. We recognize that these are challenging times for everyone, and reaching out for financial assistance is a step we embark upon with deep consideration. Your support, regardless of its form or size, gives us hope for the future. We will always cherish your kindness.
